Rajendranath Busawon, 68, has recently completed a NCFE L5 Diploma in Education and Training, achieving a distinction mark. His training took place in the Luton Adult Learning centre where he was able to get hands on experience in adult education and training.
Rajendranath has selected this programme with the aim of improving his knowledge and obtaining a formal qualification in adult education and training “I was looking to bridge the gap between my experience and the latest best practices in the field” he explained.
Very quickly the various benefits of an apprenticeship programme became apparent to Rajendranath, saying “Apprenticeship programs offer a unique blend of hands-on experience and structured learning, equipping participants with work-related practical skills, industry-recognized qualifications, and real-world experience—all while setting them up for a successful career with valuable earning potential.”
The role offered him an opportunity to make a difference in his community. When asked about the best thing about his role he stated “The best thing about my role as an adult educator in a community adult learning facility is the combination of making a difference in learner’s lives by directly impacting their personal and professional growth, enjoying the diversity and flexibility of teaching individuals from various backgrounds, fostering a culture of lifelong learning, and experiencing a strong sense of community. The personal satisfaction I derive from witnessing learners overcome challenges and succeed is immensely rewarding.”
Rajendranath received great support from his tutor Julie Langston and programme leader Lisa Charman, offering him advice, guidance, and support in assignment structures. “Julie’s suggestions for a well-integrated study plan with “off the job” activities significantly contributed to my success” Rajendranath recollects.
The programme focuses on learning and enhancing many skills, with the facilitation of learner-centred instructions being the most valuable to Rajendranath as he explained “it empowers active participation, fosters critical thinking, accommodates diverse learning styles, and creates more effective and meaningful learning experiences.”
Looking to the future, Rajendranath is looking for further opportunities in education “The world of education is fascinating to me, and I’m exploring my options through potential degree programs” he said.
