National Youth Work Week runs every year in the first week of November. This year’s theme, Building Brighter Futures: Safe places, trusted support, and opportunities to thrive, highlights the essential role youth work plays in helping young people feel secure, supported and empowered to reach their full potential.
This is a moment to reflect on what youth work represents for young people in Hammersmith and Fulham. It provides trusted adults, safe environments, and the stability needed to help young people navigate their next steps. It is a vital part of local life that connects education, wellbeing, and opportunity.
LMP Action began with a simple aim: to help vulnerable young people access sport and find belonging through positive activity. From those beginnings, our work has evolved to include evening programmes, holiday camps, transition support, and alternative provision that sits alongside education and supports long-term engagement.
We now deliver and coordinate youth work across Hammersmith and Fulham through the borough’s Youth Service and the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme. This has allowed us to expand access, maintain consistent standards, and ensure that more young people have reliable places to go outside the classroom.
Youth work and education strengthen each other. When they work together, attendance improves, motivation grows, and young people begin to see new possibilities for themselves.
At LMP Action, our focus is on connection and continuity. We work with schools, families, and community venues to make sure young people are supported wherever they spend their time. Our purpose has not changed since the beginning: create safe and meaningful spaces where young people can be heard, participate, and move forward with confidence.
We intend to continue to provide support for young people in Hammersmith & Fulham and in all other communities we work in.
