The Early Years sector is one that offers a fulfilling career path for many individuals. LMP Education offers a range of apprenticeships within the sector to help our learners develop into their perfect career. One of our learners is Kerry Champ a Level 3 Early Years Educator apprentice at Southwold primary school. Here is her story:

“I chose to do this apprenticeship programme as I am currently working in an Early Years setting and wanted to upskill and gain my qualification to progress in my career. I have a young family so working and learning on the job fits perfectly around my family. Learning on the job is a big benefit for me, being able to work around my family life.

Having apprenticeships in the Early Years sector is important for many reasons but some of the key ones are safeguarding, ratios, supporting children on their learning journey and identifying next steps.

The Early Years play such an important role in future development and having the knowledge and understanding will give you the skills and tools to help children in your setting progress and achieve.

The best thing about my job is seeing an achievement made by a child as the result of your support and guidance on their learning journey. I enjoy working with children, building relationships and watching them progress and achieve new milestones.

My employer and LMP tutor have been very supportive during my apprenticeship. Being able to contact my tutor anytime is really useful, she is very supportive.  My mentor at our Early Years setting has been very supportive and being able to observe her in practise and ask questions at any point really helps.

After finishing my apprenticeship, I would like to continue my learning journey and progress to a level 5 and possibly a course working with SEND children to have more knowledge and understand of SEND in the early years.”

Well done, Kerry!
