LMP Education is proud to partner with Oasis Community Learning providing tailored apprenticeship training programmes to develop their staff. Since 2018, LMP has supported over 700 apprenticeships across the Oasis trust nationwide.

Oasis Academy Foundry have chosen to utilise LMP Education’s Teaching Assistant apprenticeship programmes to develop their educational staff, as Principal Asima Ravat explains:

“Our school chose the Teaching Assistant programme to empower the next generation of leaders by offering hands-on experience alongside skilled professionals. It provides apprentices with meaningful support and real-world learning opportunities, helping them grow both personally and professionally. Additionally, the programme strengthens ties with the local community by opening pathways into further education and paid employment, fostering long-term development and inclusion.

Our apprenticeship programme has proven to be a strategic and impactful initiative for the school. It allows us to address specific skills gaps by training apprentices for roles tailored to the unique needs of our academy. Young apprentices bring fresh energy, innovative ideas, and a strong grasp of technology—particularly valuable in a trust where iPads are widely used across teaching and learning.

Financially, the programme has been cost-effective, with the apprenticeship levy helping to subsidise training costs. This has enabled us to expand our workforce and enhance the support we provide to our pupils. Beyond the immediate benefits, the programme has created a sustainable pipeline for long-term employment, with apprentices already immersed in our school’s culture and ethos, making them well-prepared for future roles within our community.”

One of the Teaching Assistant Apprentices at Oasis Academy Foundry is Mariah who is currently taking LMP’s Level 3 Teaching Assistant SEND Pathway programme. Mariah shared her story with us:

I have always been a very curious person and I initially joined this programme because of my passion to help support SEND children, learn more about their behaviours, and support their learning even outside of the classroom.

I have been very supported by the school because I am always given the opportunity to ask questions openly about things I may need more support with, the staff I work with are always happy to give me pointers and knew knowledge. My LMP tutor has supported me very well by consistently listening to my thoughts and opinions as I progress with my apprenticeship, always replying to me when I ask something and celebrating my achievements with me.

I have made an impact in my school with the way that I support the SEND students in my care. I am constantly learning new methods to help them with their learning and development, and I have been able to see parents and children alike share a joint happiness with every achievement that their children make.

The most important skill I have learnt from this apprenticeship is how to adapt and how to do it very quickly. Working with SEND children, I have had to learn how to quickly change an activity or an environment in order to support them and it has been a skill that has become very useful to me. Learning isn’t always traditional for SEND children and by learning how to adapt lessons and the things that I am trying to teach makes learning fun and easily accessible for all children.

After I finish this programme, I am looking into perhaps learning how I can further specify my education within SEND.

An apprenticeship is a very valuable programme to undertake mainly because it is so very rewarding. You are able to do more than just learn the theory of a specific subject or area; you are actually given the chance to physically participate in the setting you want to work in. This makes the transition into being fully qualified even easier as not only are you finding your feet into whatever you are passionate about, you are treated like every other member of staff and are equal with them and still given advice and support by other professionals who have been doing it longer than you have.”

When discussing Mariah’s work Asima added: “Mariah has shown a strong commitment to making the most of her time at Foundry. She is proactive, demonstrates initiative, and consistently seeks out opportunities for growth. Her openness to feedback and willingness to learn from her mentor and colleagues reflect a mature and positive attitude toward professional development. Mariah’s enthusiasm and drive make her a valuable member of our team and a promising future professional.

Mariah has made a significant and positive impact within our school community. She has built a strong rapport with both children and parents, contributing to a welcoming and supportive environment. Her enthusiasm and willingness to participate in wider academy activities reflect her dedication to the school’s ethos and her proactive approach to professional development.

Her work with our most vulnerable learners has been particularly commendable. Through consistent support and genuine care, she has helped improve engagement, confidence, and emotional well-being among pupils who need it most. We are incredibly proud of her progress and the difference she continues to on our pupils when supporting learning, delivering interventions and enhancing the classroom environment to inspire and motivate pupils.”

Talking about the school’s experience with LMP, Asima concludes: “Our experience with the LMP Education team has been extremely positive. They have provided support throughout every stage of the apprenticeship process—from advertising and shortlisting candidates to coordinating school visits, interviews, and onboarding. Their ongoing guidance throughout the course has been invaluable, ensuring both the apprentices and our school feel supported and well-informed at every step.

They have further contributed to our community by providing Christmas hampers and prizes to celebrate the most improved attendance.”
