LMP Education is proud to partner with Oasis Community Learning providing tailored apprenticeship training programmes to develop their staff. Since 2018, LMP has supported over 700 apprenticeships across the Oasis trust nationwide.
Oasis Academy Warndon began working with LMP in order to further develop the staff within the school. As Kali Jauncey Assistant Principal explains “apprenticeships enable them to support the children as best as possible and to support them with career development.
LMP have always been extremely supportive and responsive to our needs as an academy and to our individual learners and mentors. Regular meetings, emails, handbooks and information have been useful, but the tutors are also always only an email away to answer any questions.”
One of LMP’s apprentices in Oasis Academy Warndon is Chelsea Hughes, a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprentice. Here is her story:
“I enrolled in the Level 3 apprenticeship as I was employed as a 1-1 special educational needs teaching assistant and wanted to further develop my skills. The apprenticeship allowed me to widen my knowledge and experience further as well as gain my level 3 qualification.
The apprenticeship allows you to work at a pace that supports both your and professional life with a balance. Still allowing to progress and achieve academically.
Both work colleagues and my tutor at LMP have provided me with the best support and advice through my apprenticeship, providing the advice and feedback in all aspects of my learning.
In my apprenticeship I have been able to provide mixed ability children with a wider variety of learning techniques, adapting my professionalism to different surrounds and being able to grow, not only in knowledge, but in confidence too. I have been able to use my day-to-day learning situations as evidence in my assignments and using the reflections to improve my delivery to all students who vary academic ability. I have been able to gain wider knowledge on the theories behind the scaffolding to teaching and understand the importance of delivery.
In my programme I have gained more knowledge about the policies and procedures and been able to be more vigilant of my children and the behaviour displayed impacting the child’s ability to learn and even safeguarding.
I am due to complete my level 3 next month and already enrolled to start my L5 Specialist Higher Level Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship.”
When discussing Chelsea’s work Kali said:
“Chelsea is a dedicated member of staff who has really thrown herself into her apprenticeship, wanting to learn and extend her knowledge and understanding of the role so she can best support the children in her care.
She has built fantastic relationships with the children she works with and their families. She is dedicated to ensuring that they make progress, most recently supporting a child throughout Nursery and Reception and has supported his transition into Year 1. This child’s confidence and attainment have developed because of her dedication and determination, applying what she has learnt through her qualification coupled with her personable approach. Chelsea is an asset, and we are really pleased that she wants to take her training further too as she has now enrolled on a Level 5 course with LMP.”
