LMP Education are proud to support learners of all backgrounds and experience level in developing their skills. Today we are sharing the story of Louise, a 54-year-old Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprentice from Outwood Bydales:
“I chose to do an apprenticeship programme because I liked the fact that everything was done remotely, and I didn’t need to visit anywhere. I enjoy the structure of the programme and the way it is broken into sections.
I didn’t enjoy school very much and have found that I have learnt better on my own terms and doing courses like this. I find them much more practical and suitable for my role. I am not in a position to stop working.
The main benefits of this apprenticeship programme are the tailored approach and the fact that you can still work while you are doing the qualification. Regular check ins and communication from my tutor.
The best thing about my role is making a difference to the students I support and seeing them grow and learn.
Throughout my programme I received great support from my employer, Line Manager and my LMP tutor. My tutor has provided invaluable support. Through this programme I have secured a Level 3 Teaching Assistant role in my school – I probably would have not had the confidence to go for this role without support from my tutor.
The most important skill I’ve learned is being able to recognise the knowledge that I do have, and it has reinforced my confidence in supporting students, it has filled in the gaps that I had. So, I suppose ‘confidence in my ability’ is the most important skill I have learnt.
The next step in my career is to do a Level 4 Teaching Assistant course, my tutor is encouraging me to go to Level 5 too.”
Best of luck in the future Louise!
