LMP Education provides apprenticeship training and recruitment services to employers from a range of sectors. Two Rivers High School, a large special needs secondary school based in Tamworth, has trained 7 Teaching Assistant Apprentices through LMP Education.

Claire Milton, Acting Headteacher at Two rivers High School has shared the school’s experience working with LMP:

“Two Rivers High school chose the apprenticeship route because it provides cost-effective, practical training that combines learning with real work experience. This approach strengthens our workforce, improves pupil outcomes, and aligns with our commitment to professional development.

Choosing apprenticeships has had a significant positive impact on our organisation. It allows us to train staff within our school environment, ensuring they are fully immersed in our culture, values, and expectations from day one. The main benefits us is have been having flexible staff who are trained the ‘Two Rivers’ way. We believe that growing our own staff creates lifelong professionals who understand and embrace our ethos of inclusive and relational education.

Historically, apprentices have become some of our strongest team members, often progressing into permanent roles and leadership positions. Even when they move on to further their careers elsewhere, we take pride in knowing we have developed highly skilled practitioners who can make a difference in education beyond our setting.

The flexibility of the apprenticeship approach works well for our school, enabling staff to learn while contributing to pupil outcomes. It also supports succession planning and workforce stability, reducing recruitment challenges and ensuring continuity for our students. Overall, this route has strengthened our team, improved retention, and reinforced our commitment to professional development.

Given our specialist setting, all our apprentices work directly with pupils who have additional needs. They play a vital role in providing tailored support that enhances inclusion, learning and wellbeing. It is inspiring to see them in action from facilitating communication with pre-verbal students and helping a student to co-regulate.

Apprentices bring fresh energy and adaptability, and because they train within our setting, they quickly learn our ethos and strategies for SEND. This ensures pupils receive consistent, high-quality support that meets their complex needs.

Working with LMP Education has been an excellent experience. The team is consistently professional, approachable, and highly supportive. Their processes are clear and robust yet designed in a way that doesn’t overwhelm mentors or staff. We receive guidance at every stage—from onboarding apprentices to monitoring progress—which makes the whole journey smooth and stress-free. LMP also provides regular communication, timely updates, and practical resources, ensuring both the apprentice and the school feel fully supported throughout the programme.

We’ve historically worked with apprentices through a different provider, but since moving to LMP Education we haven’t looked back. The flexibility of their approach has been a real advantage, allowing us as an employer to provide the best possible support while balancing the operational needs of our school. This has resulted in a seamless experience for both mentors and learners.

The quality of apprentices coming through LMP has been some of the highest we’ve ever had. They are motivated, professional, and quickly become integral members of our team. As a result, they are supporting some of our most complex learners.

I would highly recommend utilising apprenticeships to recruit new members of staff. Make it clear what skills and values you are looking for in an apprentice and be part of the pre-employment recruitment process.

Having apprentices is valuable to the education sector because it is important to inspire the future generation of educators. For us, our Apprentice staff are inclusive practitioners who make a real difference.”
