The SEND Crisis is one of the most pressing issues within the UK education sector. According to the Special Education needs in England report for the 2023/2024 academic year the number of SEND pupils has increased by 101,000 pupils from 2023. The percentage of pupils with an education, health and care plan (EHCP) has increased from 4.3% in 2023 to 4.8% in 2024.

This impacts pupils and educators alike and feeds into other issues within the education sector including the Behaviour Crisis and the Exclusion Crisis.

It’s clear that changes must be made within our schools in order to better support pupils with SEND and enable educators to feel confident in their role through this change in needs.

In response to the SEND Crisis, LMP Education has released a whitepaper for school, examining the current SEND struggles and proposing solutions through funded training and apprenticeships. The document draws on data and research and offers up to date information and suggestions to approach the SEND crisis through funded training and apprenticeships for school staff.
