It’s National Apprenticeship Week! Throughout this week we will be highlighting stories from our current learners. Today we are sharing Georgina’s story. Georgina is a 23-year-old Teaching Assistant apprentice from Stanton under Bardon.

Georgina says that she’s chosen the level 3 Teaching Assistant programme because she’s heard great reviews about it.

Throughout her programme she’s benefiting from the hands-on-experience in the classroom, saying “Gaining real experience in a school while you are learning is very helpful as you can see that what you’re learning is relevant and will be useful.“

She has been enjoying the work she does with the children at school as she explains “the best thing about my role is watching the children learn and take the information in and actually use it.”

In her TA apprenticeship Georgina has been supported by her LMP tutors saying “My tutor Kym has been amazing and really supportive, as has Joanna with my dyslexia”.

As part of her training, Georgina got to learn more about child behaviour which has been incredibly helpful for her as she explains “I have done research for sections of the course, and I’ve been able to link it to the children I work with”.

Looking into the future, Georgina shared that she wants to become a SENCO, saying “I had a lot of help when I was younger, and it set me up for life. I’d like to do that for the children”.

We wish you all the best with your apprenticeship Georgina!
