Windsor Academy Trust (WAT) is a family of schools delivering excellent education to 10,000 students aged two to 18 driven by 1,300 committed, inspiring and talented staff. The first school in the trust was established in 2011 and since then they have grown to having 15 successful schools, 7 primary schools and 8 secondary schools. WAT have worked with LMP Education to enhance their staff through a range of apprenticeships.
Joel joined the trust as a Marketing Executive and since completing his apprenticeship he has secured a permanent position in the trust. Martin Lopez, WAT’s Head of Marketing talks about his experience working with LMP and Joel:
“We have a number of apprentices at different stages of their journeys with LMP, all thriving in their respective roles. We initially welcomed Joel as a Marketing Apprentice through LMP Education, and following the successful completion of his apprenticeship, he has now secured a permanent role as a Marketing and Communications Officer. His journey with us has been a great example of how apprenticeships can lead to long-term career development within an organisation.
We chose the marketing apprenticeship programme to build capacity within our growing team while ensuring we were developing talent in-house. Apprenticeships provide a structured way to nurture skills and align individuals with our organisation’s values and objectives. For us, it was also about investing in Joel’s potential and setting him up for long-term success in marketing and communications.

One of the key benefits has been strengthening our team with a fresh perspective while also ensuring that we are actively developing the next generation of marketing professionals. Apprenticeships allow for on-the-job learning, meaning that as Joel gained experience, he contributed directly to our marketing and communications strategy. The programme has also provided stability by allowing us to develop talent that understands our ethos and approach.
Working with LMP Education has been an excellent experience, particularly with Joel’s tutor, Veronique Enwright. She has been brilliant to work with, guiding Joel throughout the entire process and ensuring his development remained on track. She also maintained strong communication with me, keeping me informed and involved in his progress. This level of support made a real difference in Joel’s journey and helped us integrate the apprenticeship effectively into our team.
Joel has had a hugely positive impact on our organisation. From day one, he approached his role with enthusiasm, creativity, and a strong willingness to learn. His contributions to social media, design, and communications have helped strengthen our marketing efforts, and his confidence has grown significantly. Seeing his development over time, culminating in his permanent role, has reinforced the value of investing in apprenticeships.
It’s essential to fully support your apprentice throughout their journey, ensuring they feel valued and encouraged to develop their skills. Apprenticeships should never be seen as a source of low-cost labour but as an opportunity to nurture future talent and bring new energy into a team. When you invest in their growth, both the apprentice and the organisation benefit—creating a real win-win situation.”
