LMP Education is proud to partner with Oasis Community Learning providing tailored apprenticeship training programmes to develop their staff. Since 2018 LMP has supported over 600 apprenticeship across the Oasis trust. Aniqa is a 28-year-old Teaching Assistant Apprentice from Oasis Academy Clarksfield, here is her story:
“I chose this apprenticeship programme because it offers the perfect balance of hands-on experience and structured learning. I am someone who learns best by doing and this apprenticeship allowed me to apply what I’m learning in real time. I’m passionate about supporting children’s learning. This programme gave me a chance to gain real classroom experience while working towards a recognised qualification.
The main benefits of completing an apprenticeship in my opinion are gaining real work experience while learning, earning a wage and getting a recognised qualification. It also helps build confidence and improves job opportunities in the future.
I have been really well supported throughout my apprenticeship. The class teacher helped me a lot by guiding me in the classroom and shown me how to support the students effectively. My mentor was always there to answer questions and provide feedback also previous apprentices were helpful and always shared useful tips from their own experience. Everyone at the school has been supportive and made me feel part of the team. My LMP tutor was the absolute best, always checking in, giving clear advice and helping me stay on track with my work and progress.
During my apprenticeship I have made positive impact in several ways. I have supported both individual students and small groups with their learning. I have helped build confidence and make noticeable progress. For example, I carried out guided reading interventions with groups of children who were struggling with their reading and over time they become a lot more confident, and their reading levels improved. I also played a key role in supporting communication with parents who speak Urdu. I helped translate during meetings, parents’ evenings and general handover conversations which made it easier for parents to understand their child’s progress and feel more involved in the school community.
In the classroom I helped create displays, prepare resources, and support behaviour management, all of which help the classroom run more smoothly. Teachers and staff have often commented on how reliable and proactive I am.
The most valuable skill I have learnt is communication. It has helped me build strong relationship with students, staff and parents, especially when translating in Urdu. Good communication makes everything run smoother and this has really boosted my confidence in and out of the classroom.
My advice for anyone looking to do an apprenticeship is go for it, you honestly won’t regret it. Doing an apprenticeship has been one of the best decisions I have made. An apprenticeship is one of the best ways to learn, grow and it opens many doors for your future. You get real experience, earn while you learn and come out more confident and skilled. It definitely is a game changer.”
Well done Aniqa and best of luck in the future!
