LMP Education offers in depth apprenticeship programmes to help organisations hire new talent or upskill existing team members. Rhian is a 53-year-old School Business Professional who used an apprenticeship to develop further in her role. This is her story:
“I chose this course to cement my learning and understanding of the role I have taken on at the school. I was employed as Office Manager in 2017 but since have taken on more and more responsibility without training and wanted to ensure I was doing the job correctly and need the qualification to enable pay progress.
I work full time in the role at the school and needed the flexibility of apprenticeship learning and the support financially from the school to take on the course. The main benefit of an apprenticeship programme is the flexibility it gives me to learn as I work.
My maths functionality is the proudest achievement, but I am, of course, hoping that the full completion of the course will be. Maths was a major weak point and huge stumbling block for me, and the patience and webinars provided by my tutor, Kate Merrick, enabled my understanding and success.
I have been fully supported on this programmed by my tutor Kayleigh who understands so well how demanding this job is and how to make time for our meetings is not always easy. She is flexible and enabling and so supportive. Her knowledge is invaluable. I would also like to mention and thank Kate Merrick, without whom I would not have passed my maths. She was brilliant. I am lucky to have these two fantastic tutors in my corner helping me every step of the way.
The most important skills I’ve learned during my apprenticeships are time management and prioritising, working smart. Learning as an adult has lots of advantages and I am so glad that I have done this.
My next goal in my career is to become a School Business Manager.”
