The education sector is one that benefits greatly from apprenticeships. Due to the hands-on nature of each role, learners are able to apply their formal learning to their work on a daily basis. When one thinks of apprenticeships within schools, their minds often go to support staff and teaching assistants, however, there are a range of apprenticeship programmes available for schools that can be used to enhance non-teaching staff.
How can schools make the most of apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are a fantastic way for schools to grow and develop their staff. Educational settings can use apprenticeship programmes to recruit new staff members or for training their existing teams.
City Academy Norwich uses apprenticeships to develop their administrative team
City Academy Norwic has taken on a School Administrator apprentice with LMP Education in April 2025 who’s helped them grow their administrative team.
Katie Bloomfield, AP to Head of School explains: “As an employer the apprenticeship meets our organisational needs and the commitment to undertaking the apprenticeship on both sides makes it attractive to employers and employees alike via this ‘earning while learning’ route.
The apprenticeship pathway has allowed us to add capacity within our team of support staff in a cost effective and manageable way. Bringing in a new member of the team who is keen to learn and seek out opportunities to develop has had a very positive impact on the working environment for all.”
