Happy National Apprenticeship Week! To celebrate our learners we are sharing stories from apprentices from across all programmes. Today we have Caroline, a 48-year-old SEND Teaching Assistant apprentice from Sacred Heart School.

Caroline was interested in this apprenticeship pathway as she wanted “to develop my skills and learn more about working with SEND children.”

She’s benefited greatly from the flexibility offered by an apprenticeship pathway saying she enjoyed “that you can fit it around your job and home life.”

In her role Caroline got a chance to experience a varied and engaging role as she explains “It is a really rewarding experience and no one day is the same.”

Caroline praised the support she received, saying “I have been supported hugely by my employer, colleagues and LMP Tutor.”

When asked about the most important skill she’s gained in her apprenticeship Caroline said, “different teaching strategies, when best to use them and how to adjust them to suit individual needs.”

Being a SEND TA was very meaningful for Caroline, when looking into the future she’s stated that she’d want to continue to work within SEND and she’d specifically like “to work closer with the school SENCO.”

Well done, Caroline, we wish you best of luck in the future.
