Dylan Lacey is 23 and is currently on a Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship at Puddleducks Nursery in North Finchley, London. He decided to start an apprenticeship to explore his future within the childcare sector.

Here is Dylan’s apprenticeship journey so far

‘I chose to do an apprenticeship as an Early Years Educator as I wanted to see if I would be able to work within a childcare environment as I have thought about it as a future career.

The main benefits of an apprenticeship programme are that it allows me to learn and complete my course whilst being a part of a working environment, making it easier to learn whilst working.

The best thing about my role is the people and watching the achievements of the children and knowing that I have had a positive impact on them.

I have been supported by Emily (my manager) and Scarlet (my LMP Tutor) throughout which has helped me create every piece of work that I complete to the best quality.

The most important skill that I have learnt is confidence. I feel a lot more confident with the children and discussing their needs with parents and working alongside parents to give their children the best education they can get.

The next step in my career after this programme is to potentially become a teacher by going to university and aiming to gain a QTS.’
