LMP Education is proud to partner with Oasis Community Learning providing tailored apprenticeship training programmes to develop their staff. Since 2018, LMP has supported over 700 apprenticeships across the Oasis trust nationwide.

Oasis Academy Hobmoor is an inclusive academy for children aged between 3 and 11. To support their Early Years setting, the academy has utilised LMP Education’s Level 3 Early Years Educator programme. Nafeesa Aqeel is a learner on this programme who has seen her confidence, and skills increase as a result of her studies. Here is her story:

“I chose this programme as I have always had a passion for working with children as well as ensuring I can provide a warm and welcoming environment for them. This course has allowed me to build the skills needed to make a difference in their most important stage of life.

This apprenticeship will help me work towards a lead role as an early year’s practitioner or even a teacher. I have gained a lot of knowledge in supporting children’s learning and well-being. It has not only helped me with my professional growth but also made a huge difference within my setting.

The school has given me opportunities to build my confidence such as letting me take lead during group activities and giving me other responsibilities overtime. My tutor has well supported me through feedback which allowed me to focus on areas where I struggle. Overall, my tutor has been very understanding when it comes to deadlines and needing extra support.

I have supported the learning and behaviour of the children in many ways to make them feel engaged and supported as much as possible. I have done this by creating small activities where we will all work together which included problem –solving and teamwork allowing everyone feel to included. This has made many feels more confident overtime. I also assist those who struggle more by doing 1 to 1 which has left a positive impact.

The most valuable skill I have learnt from the apprenticeship is good communication. It is important for me as it has allowed me to work closely with staff and parents which encourages teamwork. I am now able to build trust and provide effective support for our children.

After finishing my apprenticeship, I would like to continue working in an early years setting with the knowledge I’ve gained. I plan on exploring different opportunities to take on a lead role so I can continue to support children as much as possible.

I would highly recommend starting an apprenticeship as it has a lot of opportunities to build your skills and leaving a positive impact on both you and everyone else.  Support is always provided and will allow you to take a step further towards your dream career. “

Best of luck in the future Nafeesa!
