Yasmin is a 33-year-old Library, Information & Archive Services (LIAS) apprentice at Oasis Academy Shirley Park. For National Apprenticeship she has shared her apprenticeship journey with us.

She chose to go down the apprenticeship route due to the flexibility it offered her saying “I chose this apprenticeship so I could gain the qualification which worked around having kids of my own.”

Yasmin said that gaining experience and a qualification was one of the main benefits as the LIAS programme.

Throughout this programme she’s been supported by her LMP Tutor Kym, Yasmin shared “My tutor Kym has been amazing and has helped me whenever I need it Also giving me information that could help towards end of point. Also, she has gone above and beyond by giving me time to complete task briefs around my busy schedule”.

Doing the apprenticeship has helped boost Yasmin confidence, as she explains “confidence building has been the most important skill I’ve learned, as I started this job with little to no confidence and I feel being able to gain experience has made a big improvement to my personal development.

After completing her LIAS programme Yasmin plans to continue her studies and move on to a level 5 qualification.

Best of luck with your apprenticeship Yasmin!
