Welcome to National Apprenticeship Week! All throughout this week LMP Education will be sharing case studies from learners across all programmes to celebrate success and spotlight achievements. Today we are sharing the story of Sean a 36-year-old School Business Professional from The Regis School.

Sean chose this apprenticeship as he saw it as “a natural stepping stone in a career” he carried on explaining that the apprenticeship “allows me to get a high-level qualification which is essential in the education sector”.

Throughout his programme, he benefited from being able to put into practice what he has learned in his theoretical studies as he explains “The programme covers to actual day to day school business. Whilst learning relevant topics crop up throughout my working day, giving me a much better insight such as governance.”

Sean said that the best thing about his role is the variety “I really enjoy my existing role because of its variety of operational and strategic. One day working with primary children to running events, to then more strategic work around income generating and school outcomes.”

Throughout his learnings Sean has been supported by his LMP tutor as he shared “Rita Mobley my tutor has been brilliant. Her experience is evident giving practical real examples of when certain subjects are required. This has helped me not only learn but implement into my practice.”

The key skill Sean gained from the programme has been developing his reflection skills as he explains “activities like colleague feedback as made me understand further my strengths and areas of improvement. Something I would have not dedicated the time to do without this programme.”

Sean shared his plans for the future “the programme allows me to explore the school business manager route, but also credits the work I have done with a formal qualification. This experience and skills covered within the programme keeps lots of doors and opportunities open, whilst I decide my preferred career path.”

Best of luck in the future Sean!
