Upon achievement, learners will be able to be included in their setting's ratio and will be able to enter the workforce as an Early Years Practitioner or progress to Level 3 Early Years Educator.

You will showcase your expertise, demonstrating your ability to apply learned concepts. Typically, the EPA consist of multiple choice questions and a professional discussion underpinned by your portfolio of evidence.

  • Understand policies for child protection, online safety, and reporting incidents. Adhere to legal requirements for health and safety.
  • Understand development patterns, recognise signs of concerns, and communicate effectively with children.
  • Implement statutory frameworks for learning and development. Promote healthy lifestyles, follow guidance for special needs, and collaborate with colleagues and parents.
  • Recognise roles and ethical behaviours, access policies, and value continuous improvement and professional development. Understand roles of other agencies and professionals, and prioritise the voice of the child and parental engagement.

  • Guide children through transitions and safeguard against various types of abuse, ensuring a secure environment.
  • Identify and manage risks, practice infection prevention, and foster personal safety and hygiene for children.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles, balanced diets, and respectful care routines such as nappy changing, identifying illnesses etc. tailored to children's development.
  • Communicate effectively, support language and developmental milestones, collaborate with colleagues, professionals, agencies, and parents to meet children's needs, encouraging parent involvement in care and learning.
  • Use feedback and supervision for professional growth.

  • Provide the best quality childcare daily, identifying opportunities for each child's development.
  • Build trust through ethical, empathetic, and confidential work, maintaining professional standards and serving as a positive role model.
  • Work effectively with colleagues, parents and professionals, showing commitment to improving outcomes for children through inspired and child-centered care and education.

    Month 1-12: This is where you will learn the most, completing learning objectives towards achieving your qualifications.
  • Building your competence and portfolio of evidence through covering key KSBs for your apprenticeship standard
  • Completing units and tests required to achieve your Diploma
  • Being observed on a few occasions by your tutor and/or line manager/mentor (requirements for your EPA)
  • Completing Functional Skills (where applicable)
  • Attending group workshops covering key topics
  • Attending monthly teaching and learning reviews to ensure everything is going well
  • Progress reviews every three months with your personal tutor and line manager

  • Month 13-14: Consolidating your knowledge, skills and behaviours, preparing for the final step of your apprenticeship
  • Finalising your portfolio of evidence
  • Completing mock tests in preparation for your EPA
  • Completing the paperwork necessary for the next steps

  • Month 14-16: Gateway Period, you will be completing your final assessments with our End Point Assessment Organisation, ActiveIQ

    Congratulations! You have achieved your Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship qualification.

Our comprehensive curriculum blends theoretical learning with practical application, covering essential health and wellbeing principles, child development; working in partnership with others; supporting transition and topics around equality and diversity and SEND. Throughout the programme, you will attend workshops where you will be covering topics related to the Early Years Level 2 apprenticeship and you will also be given the opportunity to network with your peers. You will also receive personalised guidance and mentorship via your apprenticeship tutor, ensuring you develop both technical expertise and professional acumen.

As part of your apprenticeship programme, you will be also working towards your Diploma, gaining two qualifications within the same time frame! For a smooth journey with us we will provide you with the necessary resources.

As part of your apprenticeship, you will need to achieve Level 1 English and Maths and whilst this is an incredible achievement consider pursuing Level 2 to unlock even more opportunities for your further studies.
