AAT
This level 4 AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) finance apprenticeship is a higher level accounting qualification. It is designed to provide aspiring accountants with a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
The curriculum is designed to align with industry standards and equip learners with the practical knowledge and competencies required to thrive in the accounting profession. Key topics include regulation and compliance, systems and processes, core elements of double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards. If you successfully complete this qualification and fulfill the AAT’s work experience requirements, you can apply for AAT full membership and achieve professional AAT (MAAT) status.
As a professional accountant you'll play a crucial part in generating and verifying accurate financial information for your organisation or clients. Your responsibilities will include creating, reviewing, and ensuring the timeliness of financial records, making you an indispensable asset in maintaining financial integrity and compliance.
This flexible apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education, it combinesOnline and Virtual Classroom learning with regular sessions from an LMP Education tutor.
For employers - Why hire an apprentice?
Apprentices bring fresh and diverse perspectives, eagerness to learn, and a dedication to growing within your company. Apprenticeships allow for tailored training, ensuring that individuals acquire specific skills aligned with your organisation's needs, making them valuable assets from day 1. Investing in an apprentice not only fills crucial roles but also fosters a culture of mentorship and continuous improvement within your organisation.
Apprentices will study the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting as their on-programme learning. This internationally recognised AAT qualification enables those working in accounting or those looking to pursue accountancy as a career to gain knowledge, practical experience and the all-important certification often sought by employers.
We have partnered with Mindful Education to deliver this apprenticeship through our Online and Virtual Classroom model. Apprentices study online materials during allotted time at work, and also attend regular virtual sessions with a tutor.
Online lessons can be accessed at any time, using a mobile, tablet or desktop - meaning apprentices can fit their study around work commitments. Each lesson lasts around 45 minutes and is accompanied by animations and motion graphics to
bring concepts to life. Exercises, interactive case studies and analytical tools help to enhance the learning experience further.
Virtual Classroom – apprentices benefit from regular virtual classes with an experienced tutor. A combination of tutor-led work, group exercises and discussion encourages apprentices to apply theory to real-life workplace situations. This modern, flexible approach to apprenticeship training empowers learners, minimises disruption to employers, and delivers tangible results in the workplace.
Upon completion you will be able to progress onto higher level apprenticeships, have a fulltime role or go into further education. If you have one year’s experience upon completion, you can also apply to be a MAAT. From there, after 5 years of MAAT membership, you can apply to become FMAAT. This programme can also lead to chartered status.
The Professional accounting standard allows student registration with a number of UK professional bodies in this sector.
If a candidate seeks to become a member of a professional body there may be other requirements specific to the relevant professional body.
Completion of the professional accounting apprenticeship may lead to the candidate receiving credits towards the completion of the Professional accountant or tax apprenticeship or chartered Accountancy or taxation qualifications provided by the relevant professional bodies.

The End Point Assessment (EPA) assesses your skills, knowledge, and behaviour gained throughout the course, validating your readiness to excel in the field.
You will showcase your expertise, demonstrating your ability to apply learned concepts. Typically, the EPA consist of a portfolio of evidence including a reflective statement and a role simulation. The role simulation is designed to assess Apprentices in a consistent way, regardless of job role or specialism. The Role Simulation will be developed and hosted by the Assessment Organisation and apprentices will receive a set of information prior to sitting this element. During the Role Simulation, the Apprentices will be presented with further information about the organisation and will be asked to complete a series of written and objective short tasks.
