As part of LMP Group’s ongoing commitment to our communities, British Values, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), LMP encourages its employees to take part in local volunteering opportunities.

Yam Kovács, Marketing Executive at LMP Group, recently made use of her volunteer day supporting OsNosh an Oswestry based community café and garden. Here is her story:

“I found OsNosh when looking for a volunteering opportunity near me. Their mission of feeding their local community while reducing waste really appealed to me as I am very interested in sustainability and helping others. I took my volunteer day as part of LMP’s Volunteering Week in June which was a great motivation to take my volunteer day.

My day started with a rundown of the operations, OsNosh receives food donations from local supermarkets of food that is close to its ‘best by’ date and would otherwise go to waste. As we went through the building, we were shown the stock room and explained how they categorise food and make sure it all gets used. Some food gets cooked in the café and the rest is placed on the share table where individuals who come to the café to take.

Once we got settled in, I joined the kitchen in preparing lunch. On this day OsNosh collaborated with Qube, another Oswestry based charity serving the local community. Qube brought a group of elderly people to enjoy lunch and a chat at the café.

In the kitchen it was all hands-on deck. We prepared vegetables for a roast peeling and cutting then serving food once Qube arrived. During my time in the kitchen, I got to chat with the other volunteers, learning about their story and what brought them to OsNosh and what inspired them to support others.

It was a wonderful and insightful day, and I had a wonderful time connecting with my local community and helping support others.”

Great work Yam!
