Last month schools across the country celebrated National Teaching Assistant (TA) Day. This is a day where we acknowledge the incredible work TAs do and the impact they make on pupils’ lives.

In recognition of the impact our TAs make, here are some inspiring stories from our apprentices:

Providing 1:1 support to pupils

Cassey is a TA apprentice at Court Lane Infant School. During her time in the school, she has provided individualised support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Through her 1:1 work she was able to introduce new targets and create interventions for the pupil to help their development. Read Cassey’s story.

Running Phonics Interventions

Melissa is a Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant at Oasis Academy Leesbrook. She began her apprenticeship as a Learning Support Assistant and has since been promoted to Phonics Lead due to her incredible work and she has been running Phonics interventions in the school daily. Read Melissa’s story.

Supporting SEN pupils

TAs are able to support pupils through an individualised approach. Sports TA Finn works at Oasis Academy Clarksfield and has shown success in supporting SEN pupils, de-escalating children who are dysregulated. Read Finn’s story.

Promoting inclusivity

Rubina is a Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant at Oasis Academy Oldham. Through her time at the academy, she has been supporting visually impaired pupils in their transition from primary to secondary school. She has gone above and beyond to help her pupils, adapting booklets to improve access and driving her pupils to succeed.

Rear Rubina’s story.

Teaching Assistants are the backbone of schools supporting teachers and pupils and helping to shape future generations.
