LMP Education would like to congratulate Hodan Hassan Level 2 Early Years Practitioner at Little Bears Day Nursery and Pre-School for winning Apprentice of the Month! Here is Hodan’s story:
“I chose this apprenticeship because I wanted to work with children and make an impact and knew that doing this apprenticeship would help me to do so from learning.
School wasn’t an option for me, and it didn’t feel like I was getting the right opportunities from any learning. I am a person that learns through experience rather than schoolbooks.
The best thing about my job is being a key person and becoming the confident person this job allowed me to be.
I believe that Early Years settings truly guide you to be the best young child we can ever be. And that it means giving back by learning and teaching young children but also being their support system when they need it during their highs and low. Being an apprentice has many benefits such as the pay increase after working for 6 months with your employer and learning while being paid making hard working seem easy.
I been supported emotionally and intellectually during my apprenticeship. I was quite shy starting the job and had quite little knowledge and experience about children, but with support from my manager she allowed me to constantly ask nonstop questions and was always there for me from the start, from my interview till now, always supporting me and being the best person, I could ask for.
The most important thing I’ve learned during my apprenticeship is communicating. Learning how to communicate efficiently helped me not only for work but outside of work and showed me ways I can truly express myself to people but also just listen
I very proud of gaining my qualification and my next steps is to continue with my apprenticeship. I will be taking my level 3 in May continuing my knowledge and experience and expanding it to more.”
Here is what Hodan’s tutor had to say about her journey:
“I would like to nominate Hodan Hassan for Apprentice of the Month in recognition of the exceptional progress, resilience, and professionalism she has demonstrated throughout her apprenticeship journey.
Hodan was with another tutor and was transferred to me after being on programme for 6 months. At the point of transfer, she was behind programme with overdue tasks. At that stage, she appeared somewhat disengaged with her studies and lacked confidence in her progress. Shortly after her transfer, I visited Hodan in her setting where we had an honest and open conversation about her progress and, importantly, how we were going to move forward together. From that point onward, Hodan took ownership of her learning and begun to make positive steps.
Through determination and consistent effort, Hodan successfully caught up with her work. Milestone 3 was the final milestone to go overdue, and following this, every subsequent milestone was submitted and completed on time. This demonstrated a significant shift in her commitment, organisation, and accountability.
During observations, Hodan consistently took on board feedback and acted on identified areas for improvement. This was evident in other observations, where she confidently showcased her KSBs in practice.
As the course progressed, Hodan developed a notably positive attitude towards her learning and became highly confident in professional discussions. She approached her mock assessments with focus and maturity, achieving strong results, including a distinction in her mock multiple-choice test.
Hodan is now at gateway and ready to progress to End-Point Assessment with confidence. Furthermore, she has already expressed her ambition to continue her professional development by progressing onto Level 3, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to growth within her career.
Hodan’s journey is a powerful example of resilience, accountability, and transformation. The progress she has made from transfer to gateway is truly commendable, and for her dedication, development, and determination to succeed.”
Well done Hodan, best of luck in the future!
