LMP Education would like to congratulate Chloe Lever for being the first person in the UK to complete a Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant apprenticeship. This massive achievement is added to by Chloe’s fantastic mark in the apprenticeship, achieving a distinction in her qualification.
The Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant programme has been a much-needed addition to the teaching assistant standard, helping schools to further develop their staff and giving teaching assistants an opportunity to progress their career. After completing the level 5 qualification, learners have an option to ‘one year’ Top Up degree, followed by a Qualified Teacher Status (QST) qualification, making the programme an excellent solution for schools looking to grow their staff.
The professional discussions observed throughout the programme have been inspiring, with learners demonstrating growing confidence, ambition and clarity about their future pathways. Notably, some apprentices are now progressing on to university, using this apprenticeship as a stepping stone into teaching, with some securing offers following successful EPA completion.
Seeing our first apprentice complete EPA and achieve a distinction is a powerful validation of the programme, the dedication of our tutors, and the commitment of learners. It highlights the significant opportunities this apprenticeship creates, and the strong professional partnerships developed throughout the learning journey.
Nqual, the awarding body of the Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant qualification have said:
“Nqual have today confirmed that LMP have had first apprentice in England to complete the Specialist Teaching Assistant L5 standard in EPA – with a DISTINCTION.
Please do extend my congratulations to everyone involved in supporting the learner to achieve this significant milestone — it is a fantastic achievement and a real moment to celebrate.”
Chloe’s LMP tutor Susan Radcliffe said:
“Chloe’s journey on her L5 Specialist Teaching Apprenticeship started with a quiet, committed woman with a passion for SEND. Chloe to begin with supported a range of SEND pupils across the school but had a vision to maximize the opportunities for the children she worked with.
She shared her ideas for a RP classroom where pupils could access learning in the way that suited them and where skills could be developed to ensure impactful inclusion was achieved in mainstream classes, with the SENDCo and Katie Viola (Head), who welcomed her passion and ‘Apple’ classroom was born.
Chloe is extremely humble about her abilities and is absolutely dedicated to getting things right for learners. She has consistently developed her practice over the year and has applied all her learning to support the best possible outcomes for her pupils.
Being the first person in the country to achieve the Level 5 Specialist Teaching Apprenticeship at distinction level is well deserved and testament to her dedication to her school. I am super proud to see Chloe achieve this and can’t wait to hear about the next steps on her adventures!”
