Siobhan Jarret is currently on a Level 5 Operations Management Programme at Crofton Infant & Junior School, part of the Waterton Academy Trust in West Yorkshire. Siobhan is very determined as she went from feeling overwhelmed by learning maths to becoming a confident problem solver. She has worked hard and gained confidence, whilst receiving support from her employer and her tutor at LMP Education.
In her own words Siobhan commented
I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you Kate (my LMP tutor) for all your help and support. I am so pleased to pass my maths exam. For me, this has been a very hard and stressful journey at times but also, thanks to you, a lot of fun and a very positive. I have had a happy experience which was super worth it in the end, although there were many times, I did not think I would be able to continue with the programme. The hardest part for me was learning to be a learner. I had forgotten a lot of the maths and the terminology and many of the questions were a complete foreign language to me.
At the beginning of my course, I struggled with maths and English. I attended a maths boot camp with LMP which really helped. I had worked myself into quite a state and the scariest part was not fully understanding everything. It was extremely daunting the thought of having to learn everything all over again.
My confidence took a serious knock but the one-to-one lessons I had with you did not just help me to remember the maths but also helped with my confidence and feeling calm. Passing the maths exam is so much more than just a maths exam, I have confidence in myself and find myself helping others with maths and just knowing that I can do fractions etc is amazing
I would like to thank you for your patience and kindness. The time you took with me by going back to basics just made everything fall into place and fit together. In the end it wasn’t at all daunting and now I am very proud of myself for what I have achieved.
Kate, you are an amazing teacher and I feel privileged and honoured to have had the fortune to have been taught and mentored by you. I looked forward to our weekly sessions, the confidence that I have gained through this is so much more than just maths and it was all made possible by you, so Kate thank you so very much for everything. I am really enjoying this Level 5 Operations Manager programme and look forward to developing further once I have completed it.
