Discover Rebekka’s apprenticeship journey in her own words

‘The main benefits of an apprenticeship are that it helps prepare you better in your continual professional development, with valuable information and tips that could be implemented into your role. You feel more confident as you go, thus able to take on more responsibilities, and are more aware of what to expect from working with SEN children and how to better promote positive behaviours.

One of the best things about my role is getting to work with and see the progress of each student as they become more confident and passionate about their interests, while improving in each curriculum they participate in. I have also enjoyed building positive relationships to where both staff and students can trust you, giving a sense of fulfilment to the role.

Communication, transparency and vigilance skills are very important in my role. I have learnt to adopt the multi-agency approach and any concerns are always dealt with swiftly.

Kirsty (my apprenticeship supervisor) and Scarlet (my tutor) have been very supportive and communicate regularly with me. They have shown care and a real interest in me as a Teaching Assistant professional and have gone above and beyond to help me achieve my apprenticeship.

I have recently completed the Level 3 Teaching Assistant programme with a distinction grade, and I am looking to progress onto the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher programme.’
