LMP Education is delighted to celebrate a major milestone for our Level 3 Safeguarding Support Officer Apprenticeship programme, with the first cohort of learners achieving exceptional results and making a real difference within their organisations.

Launched in 2025, the fully funded apprenticeship programme has quickly become one of LMP Education’s most popular training opportunities, particularly within schools and care settings where safeguarding remains a critical priority.

Today, LMP Education is proud to announce that six learners have successfully completed the programme and achieved the nationally recognised qualification. Even more impressively, all six apprentices achieved a Distinction, resulting in a remarkable 100% Distinction achievement rate.

The programme was developed to meet the growing need for skilled safeguarding professionals who can help schools navigate increasingly complex challenges affecting children, young people and vulnerable individuals. From supporting mental health concerns to responding appropriately to safeguarding risks, trained safeguarding professionals play a vital role in creating safe and supportive environments. The assessment organisation for this programme is Steadfast Assessment, who have provided dedicated sessions for learners reaching gateway.

Reflecting on the learners’ achievements, Jo Russell, LMP Education’s Safeguarding Tutor said:

“I am very proud of all my learners and feel fortunate to work with individuals who start this programme eager to learn more and develop both personally and professionally. The natural progression after completing the apprenticeship is moving into a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead or Designated Safeguarding Lead role, which some of our learners have already achieved.”

The apprenticeship provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding practice and equips them with the knowledge and confidence needed to make a positive impact in their workplace. Modules cover key legislation, policies and procedures, including Keeping Children Safe in Education and Benedict’s Law, alongside essential topics such as identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns, collaboration in safeguarding, developing others’ safeguarding awareness, safeguarding data management, and safeguarding processes, inspection and supervision.

For many learners, the impact of the programme is already being felt in their day-to-day roles. Miriam, a recent apprentice who successfully completed the programme, said:

“I have recently completed this programme with distinction, and I am already seeing an impact. As a result of the training, I am now more confident dealing with safeguarding situations in school.”

The success of the programme highlights the importance of investing in professional development for those responsible for safeguarding. As schools and organisations continue to face increasingly complex safeguarding challenges, ensuring that staff have access to high-quality training remains essential to protecting and supporting vulnerable children and adults.

At LMP Education, we are incredibly proud of our learners’ achievements and the positive difference they are making within their communities. Their success demonstrates not only their dedication and commitment, but also the value of specialist safeguarding training in helping organisations build safer environments for everyone.
